A new step for FREDA SALVADOR in Montecito

A soft glow filters through the windows of The Post Montecito’s newest storefront, revealing FREDA SALVADOR and a beautifully curated collection of handcrafted footwear, bags, and accessories. 

The California-based brand traces its origins to Sausalito, where founders Cristina Palomo Nelson and Megan Papay met, instantly clicking over a shared love of design and an appreciation for storytelling. The two come from unique backgrounds: Cristina, a third generation shoemaker, and Megan, a former celebrity stylist at Calvin Klein. Together, they have combined their expertise and crafted FREDA SALVADOR, a brand that is equal parts polished and playful. 

Walking into the Montecito location, FREDA SALVADOR’s designs are displayed on a round wooden table and styled throughout the boutique, where brightly colored ballet flats, sandals lined with shiny studs, and handwoven leather mules create an inviting welcome. Handmade clay pottery and intricately woven baskets are intentionally placed within the space, paying homage to the rich Salvadoran heritage that is at the heart of FREDA SALVADOR. 

Further inside, one particular style immediately catches my eye: the Sydney Ruched Penny Loafer. Every detail of the loafer is thoughtfully designed, making it perfect for a casual everyday look or easily dressed for a more elevated occasion. The top row of a staircase-like shelf near the back of the boutique holds a handful of them in several colors, and I can’t help but gravitate toward the blush pink colorway, a fun contrast to the classic silhouette. The ruched leather adds a subtle detail to the shoe, elevating the design overall.

Back at the front of the boutique, I sense the care and intention FREDA SALVADOR offers in their products reflected directly within the space. FREDA SALVADOR is where craftsmanship and style go hand in hand, making it a natural addition to The Post community.
